The former site of the Zaoyuan Revolution is located 7.5 kilometers northwest of Yan'an City, and was originally the manor of the landlord Shen Youan. In October 1943, the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China moved from Yangjialing to work here until March 1947.
During his stay in Zaoyuan, Chairman Mao Zedong wrote 28 important works, including "Organize", "Serve the People", "On the Coalition Government", and "Yugong Moves Mountains", and organized the Seventh Plenary Session of the Sixth Central Committee and the Seventh National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
The former site of the Zaoyuan Revolution is the location of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China headed by Mao Zedong in the late stage of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the early stage of the War of Liberation, and is affectionately known as the "Zhongnanhai" of Yan'an.
During the period of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Zaoyuan, he led the whole party to complete the Yan'an Rectification Movement marked by Marxist ideological education; It highly summarizes the fundamental purpose of the party to serve the people wholeheartedly; The Seventh National Congress of the Party, which was a milestone in the new democratic period, was prepared and convened, and Mao Zedong Thought was established as the guiding position of the whole Party. He made an important strategic decision to go to Chongqing for negotiations, thus seizing the initiative of the party and the people's army in the decisive battle between the two destinies and the two futures. He led the whole party, the whole army, and the people of the liberated areas to smash the all-out offensive launched by the Kuomintang army into the liberated areas with the People's Liberation War, opened up the second front of the patriotic and democratic movement in the Kuomintang-ruled areas, and hastened the final collapse of the Kuomintang's rule.
In 1953, the site of the Zaoyuan Revolution began to be restored, and it was officially opened to the public in 1959. On March 4, 1961, the State Council announced that it was the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units. It is one of the most beautiful tourist attractions and patriotic education bases in Yan'an. The old site covers an area of 52,800 square meters, with a construction area of 3,800.97 square meters, and the scenic spots are: Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Liu Shaoqi, Ren Bishi, Zhang Wentian, Peng Dehuai and other leaders' former residences and the small hall of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and three small houses (confidential room, administrative office, and combat research room of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee). There are thousands of trees in the park, spring flowers and summer shade, autumn and winter silver, beautiful scenery, it is a national 4A-level tourist attraction, and it is now open to the public free of charge.
